Get To Know A Better House.
You'll Be Glad You Did.
About Us
A Better House Inc. has become a leader in the integration of “green” and energy efficient products in homes and commercial buildings. This came as a result of irresponsible building practices and a growing need for better building technology in Tennessee's construction industry, as well as throughout the U.S. We assist consumers in constructing better buildings in order to lower their utility bills and actually generate revenue from utility companies. We do the hard work so that our clients can enjoy the benefits and trust us for their long-term security. We research the latest innovations, integrate them into our homes/buildings, distribute energy efficient products and offer installation directly to the homeowner or general contractor.
Our Mission
We want to educate the consumer about…
- Better products and building technology for energy efficient homes that are environmentally friendly
- Providing the highest quality service, along with competitive pricing
- The “triple bottom-line” —measuring results economically, socially and environmentally

Our Commitment
As our world becomes smaller, our human and environmental interdependence becomes more clear and our need to respect each other and our natural world more critical. We are committed to working with our fellow citizens, in reverence to all of creation, to improve our quality of life by improving the quality of the shelters we build, the lives of those involved in the process, and the environment in which we all live as we strive to be better human beings. We are committed to leaving the world a little better than we found it so that future generations have the opportunity to do the same.
About Tim Hawbaker
Tim Hawbaker has been a major advocate for responsible building practices for the past several years. In 2001, he began to focus his attention on the Insulated Concrete Form (ICF) industry in Tennessee, a market he discovered to be underserved and overpriced. He now assists consumers in reducing energy loads in their homes by integrating new technology and energy efficient products.
Tim is LEED AP certified and a Certified Green Professional (CGP). He is a licensed Industrial, Commercial and Residential General Contractor and a participating member of the Green Building Council and the Home Builder's Association. He is a certified AIA and NAHB instructor. He has taught numerous seminars, provided classes on building to the public, been heard on various radio shows as a featured guest and has brought his certified courses to many architects and engineering firms throughout Tennessee.
Tim's zeal in his mission to educate the consumer and the industry about alternative ways of building smarter and utilizing green technology is contagious to the listener.
